US-based Extended Stay America (ESA) has commenced the construction of its new hotel at Colonial Heights in Virginia.
Set to open in early next year, the new hotel will be the company’s first franchise new build. It is being developed and managed by Kara Hospitality.
Extended Stay America chief development officer Jim Alderman said: “This property and our partnership with Kara Hospitality mark the first franchise new build hotel in our system.
“It continues our strategy of growing the ESA portfolio of properties through development and franchising.”
To be located adjacent to Southpark Mall, the four-storeyed Extended Stay America Colonial Heights will have92 rooms.
The new hotel will feature new StayPlay lobby design, vinyl plank flooring, black-out shades and new fresh colour palette.

Furthermore, the hotel will offer a fitness centre, guest laundry/vending area, free in-room Wi-Fi and HD-TV with Chromecast streaming capability.

A mid-priced extended stay segment in the US, ESA has 627 hotels across the country. It also manages or franchises 73 additional hotels.
