French hospitality group Accor has expanding its portfolio in Saudi Arabia with a new Fairmont property on the Ajdan Waterfront development in Al-Khobar.
Ajdan Waterfront development is a mixed-use development in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia. It will also include retail, commercial, residential, and entertainment areas.
Fairmont Ajdan Al Khobar hotel will feature 160 rooms and serviced apartments, a Gold Lounge, and space for large social and corporate events.
It will have four dining outlets, a fitness area, a Fairmont Spa, a swimming pool, and a kids club.
Accor India, Middle East, Africa & Turkey CEO Mark Willis said: “We believe the new Fairmont Ajdan Al Khobar will become the ultimate premier urban waterfront development in the Eastern Province, and maybe even the whole of Saudi Arabia, adding to the strong momentum the Fairmont brand is seeing in the Kingdom after the successful opening of Fairmont Riyadh.

By GlobalDataDesigned for business executive and leisure travellers, Fairmont Ajdan Al Khobar is expected to open by 2023.
The hotel will be located near to the King Fahd Causeway, King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals, Saudi Aramco Headquarter, the King Abdulaziz Cultural Centre and Airbase, and others.
It will be developed in collaboration with lifestyle focus developer Ajdan Real Estate Development Company.
Ajdan Real Estate Development Company CEO Mohammed Al Otaibi said: “By signing this development, we complete the final piece of Ajdan waterfront components.
“We are proud to be the first private developer that joins its footprint with Accor, achieving this major transformation in lifestyle and tourism industry in the eastern province.”
In Saudi Arabia, Accor operates 39 properties with 14,314 rooms. It currently has additional 33 properties with 10,060 keys in the pipeline.
Last week, Accor brand Hyde Hotels, Resorts & Residences said it will open its new property in Dubai later this year.
