The Mount Airy Casino Resort is situated in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, US. Prior to becoming a casino resort, Mount Airy hosted a popular 891-acre vacation resort before it hit hard times and was sold.
The $412m Mount Airy Casino Resort broke ground on the original site in July 2006. The casino opened in October 2007 and was quickly followed by the 188-room, four-star hotel in November 2007.
A spa complex and nightclub followed in December 2007, completing the project’s $300m first phase.
The resort features a 65,144ft2 game floor, a 2,450-slot machine casino, five restaurants, two live entertainment venues, an 18-hole golf course, a spa and pool complex, retail area, a 7,000ft² conference centre and a covered parking area for guests. It also has 274 slot machines in a smoke-free room.
Accommodation at the Mount Airy Casino Resort
The hotel’s 188 rooms include king or double queen rooms, 25 suites and premier King suites. Room facilities feature 37in LCD televisions, internet access and luxury bathrooms.
Other room amenities include a dresser and desk with a leather chair, an iron, a hairdryer, coffee makers, in-room mini bar and an in-room safe to accommodate laptop.
Dining at Mount Airy Casino Resort
The Mount Airy Casino Resort has five restaurants including Red Steakhouse, Le Sorelle Cucina, Betty’s Diner, The Buffet and Noodle Bar.
The Red Steakhouse serves seafood and the Le Sorelle Cucina specialises in Italian food. Betty’s Diner, a 1950s-themed diner, serves American cuisine. The Buffet is an all-day restaurant offering a variety of dishes including desserts, salads and pasta.
Reggie’s Express serves sandwiches and salads and the Noodle Bar specialises in Asian cuisine.
The resort also features the Sunday Signature Jazz Brunch on weekends serving a variety of food and spirits.
Entertainment venues include Gypsies nightclub (opened in December 2007), which boasts a variety of live acts, bands and DJs, and The Glass Bar, which is situated in the centre of the gaming floor. The Red’s Bar, a piano bar with live entertainment, is also part of the casino.

Phase II
Phase II of the project will expand the hotel by a further 200 rooms and suites, and the casino by over 5,000 slot machines. A new conference centre and additional entertainment will be provided.
Access to the resort has been improved with the connecting county road upgraded to a four-lane highway.
Contractors for Mount Airy Casino Resort
The general contractor for the construction project was LP Ciminelli. The majority of contractors and subcontractors were sourced within Pennsylvania. McGregor Industries of Dunmore was contracted for the provision of various metals. Mid Valley Contracting was contracted for hollow core plank and structural work. Leeward Construction was contracted for site work and mass excavation. Cleveland Brothers provided emergency generators and automatic transfer switches.
Eton Electrical provided UPS system and transformers, and York International provided HVAC units. Stone Bridge Steel Corporation was contracted for supplying structural steel, Joist & Deck for material supply and Otis for Elevators.
