Lifestyle brand Hyatt Centric has made its debut in Australia with the opening of a new property at the corner of Downie Street and Flinders Lane, Melbourne.
Designed by Architectus Australia and Hecker Guthrie Interiors, Hyatt Centric Melbourne has 277 contemporary rooms across 25 floors. Construction firm Hickory has built the hotel.
Guests at the hotel can conveniently access Southern Cross Station, the Docklands and Southbank precincts, Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Hyatt Asia-Pacific president David Udell said: “Hyatt has had a presence in Australia for over 30 years and we are excited about the launch of the Hyatt Centric brand in the country and the introduction of its adventurous style of exploration and hospitality.
“As interstate and international borders in Australia reopen, we look forward to welcoming guests from near and far to discover afresh Melbourne and its cosmopolitan spirit.”
The hotel features an 82ft pool, a 24-hour gym and Bellarine Meetings on sixth floor providing a total space of 2,260ft2, as well as 2,670ft2 alfresco terrace.

The hotel project has been delivered by Little Projects Co.
Little Group chairman and founder Paul Little AO said: “We are delighted to be working with Hyatt to launch the first Hyatt Centric hotel in Australia.
“This property brings new life for local, domestic and international visitors to the southwest corner of the Melbourne city centre.”
Hyatt operates a portfolio of more than 1,000 hotels and all-inclusive properties in 69 countries across six continents.
Last month, a Hyatt Hotels’ affiliate reached a franchise agreement with SIR Investments Guyana to open 125-room Hyatt Place Georgetown Demerara.
The company also purchased North American luxury resort-management services, travel and hospitality firm Apple Leisure Group (ALG) for $2.7bn in cash.
