Hong Kong’s travel & tourism industry registered a 16.2% drop in IT hiring activity in March 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 0.19% in March 2022 when compared with February 2022.

Out of the travel & tourism industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 3.89% share in March 2022, recording a flat growth over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in Hong Kong’s travel & tourism industry’s IT recruitment activity in March 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Hong Kong’s travel & tourism industry in March 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 41.67% in March 2022, registering a 33.33% decline over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 29.17% share, a decrease of 41.67% over the previous month.

3) Computer and Information Analysts held a share of 16.67%, registering a 60% decline from February 2022.

4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 12.5%, up 200% over the previous month.

Top five travel & tourism companies in Hong Kong’s IT recruitment activity in March 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 42.59% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Hong Kong’s travel & tourism industry during March 2022 over February 2022.

Cathay Pacific Airways posted 13 IT jobs in March 2022 and registered a drop of 7.14% over the previous month. MTR with 8 IT jobs and Melco Resorts & Entertainment with 1 jobs, recorded a 57.89% decline and a flat growth, respectively, while The Walt Disney recorded a decline of 50% with 1 job postings during March 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in March 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 66.67%, down by 33.33% from February 2022. Mid Level positions with a 25% share, registered a decline of 45.45% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with an 8.33% share, down 33.33% over February 2022.
