April 2022 has seen a decrease of 5.8% in the overall hiring activity when compared with March 2022.
IT jobs accounted for a 3.68% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in April 2022, registering an increase of 0.17% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in April 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 70.92% in April 2022, a 33.68% rise over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 9.48% in April 2022, marking a 13.08% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 7.13% in April 2022, a 9.9% drop from March 2022.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 69.62% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s travel & tourism industry during April 2022 over previous month.
Uber Technologies posted 278 IT jobs in April 2022 and registered a flat growth over the previous month, followed by The Walt Disney with 204 jobs and a 25.55% drop. Expedia Group with 73 IT jobs and Delta Air Lines with 61 jobs, recorded a 7.35% rise and a 96.77% rise, respectively, while Southwest Airlines recorded a 145.45% increase with 54 job postings during April 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s travel & tourism industry
The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s travel & tourism industry IT hiring activity with a 93.18% share in April 2022, a 21.08% increase over March 2022. Canada featured next with a 6.19% share, up 36.21% over the previous month. Mexico recorded a 0.63% share, a growth of 100% compared with March 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in April 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 61.91%, up by 29.93% from March 2022. Mid Level positions with a 24.37% share, registered a growth of 19.62% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 13.32% share, up 1.19% over March 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.39%, recording a month-on-month decline of 37.5%.
