The UK’s travel & tourism industry registered a 1.8% drop in IT hiring activity in July 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 12.49% in July 2022 when compared with June 2022.

Out of the travel & tourism industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 3.16% share in July 2022, recording an increase of 0.26% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in the UK’s travel & tourism industry’s IT recruitment activity in July 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 97.27% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s travel & tourism industry in July 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 50% in July 2022, registering a 21.43% decline over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 17.27% share, a decrease of 34.48% over the previous month.

3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 13.64%, registering a 15.38% rise from June 2022.

4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 9.09%, up 25% over the previous month.

Top five travel & tourism companies in the UK’s IT recruitment activity in July 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 22.58% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s travel & tourism industry during July 2022 over June 2022.

Trip Group posted 14 IT jobs in July 2022 and registered a rise of 40% over the previous month, followed by SITA with 9 jobs and a 10% drop. Greene King with 9 IT jobs and A.P. Moller – Maersk with 8 jobs, recorded a 30.77% decline and a 65.22% decrease, respectively, while TripAdvisor recorded an increase of 33.33% with 8 job postings during July 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in July 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 66.36%, down by 13.1% from June 2022. Mid Level positions with a 24.55% share, registered a decline of 34.15% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 9.09% share, down 23.08% over June 2022.
