Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group has reopened its Radisson Blu hotel in Mali’s capital, Bamako, one month after the terrorist attack that killed 20 people.

Islamic militants took 170 guests and hotel staff hostage on 20 November.

After the siege, Malian commandos raided the hotel and freed the surviving hostages.

A terrorist group affiliated to Al-Qaeda, Al-Murabitoun, claimed responsibility for the attack, while another terror group MacinaLiberation Front claimed that it is behind the attack, according to AFP.

President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita was reported by AFP news agency as saying: "This is a victory of life over the jihadists."

The local authorities, security and emergency services from Mali as well as UN, France and the US extended their services to see the hotel reopen at Bamako.

Radisson Blu Hotel, Bamako general manager Gary Ellis said: "We are grateful to the President of Mali, Mr Ibrahim BoubacarKeïta, and our owner MrKomeCesse, for all the support they have given to the employees and guests, and to help us re-open the hotel in such a short time.

"We would also like to thank the BMS Bank for their quick financial assistance required to re-open the hotel."

The investigation is still underway, and security measures have been tightened at the hotel.

The road surrounding the hotel has been made one-way to prevent drivers from parking in front of the building.
