The Ahwahnee hotel in Yosemite Valley has completed the renovation of 24 cottages with a funding of $650,000 from Delaware North in collaboration with the National Park Service.
The renovation is aimed at improving guest room functionality, while retaining historical integrity of the hotel that was build in 1925.
Kollath-McCann Creative Services’ Richard Kollath and Edward McCann used textiles, colours and accessory items to update the cottage with references from archival images and other historic documents of the hotel.
The furniture and materials selected reflects the ones used between 1925 and 1942. The creators used wooden furniture and hand-crafted textiles that replicates western arts and crafts style.
One of the highlights of the cottage guest rooms includes mission style credenzas and night stands with integrated power outlets and USB ports.
