Marriott St.Louis

Hotel Lennox is set to open again this September as Courtyard by Marriott St Louis Downtown/Convention Center Hotel after remaining closed for four years.

Originally opened in 1929, the hotel was closed by bondholders after it failed to generate enough revenue. It was later purchased by Maritz, Wolff & Co.

Marriott invested $22m in the property and conducted extensive renovation to rebrand and bring it under the Courtyard franchise.

"The Hotel Lennox had some amazing architectural elements and a rich history that make the building truly unique and original."

The property is located within walking distance to several St Louis’ businesses, restaurants, and major sports and entertainment venues.

It was originally designed by renowned architect Preston Bradshaw, who gave it a renaissance revival style and incorporated green marble wainscoting, wood panelling and ornamental brass elevator lobby doors.

The renovation work by Marriott restored the building’s historical elements and added modern day amenities, which includes the conversion of 165 suites into extra large guest rooms, the addition of Eames and Saarinen-inspired mid-century modern furnishings throughout the hotel, a business center, and 24 hour market.

The property also includes a fitness centre, 1,100ft² of meeting space and a home theatre and library in an open lobby.

Maritz Wolff & Co principal Patrick Lowery said: "The Hotel Lennox had some amazing architectural elements and a rich history that make the building truly unique and original.

"Today it will offer downtown visitors an intimate boutique hotel option, with only eight rooms per floor, a dramatically different experience than one would find at most massive convention hotels."
