Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) will open two new Vivanta and Ginger branded hotels in Ayodhya in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

The company has partnered with Bhardwaj Global Infraventures for the two hotels, which are greenfield projects.

Located on the banks of River Saryu, Ayodhya is a pilgrimage destination, popular for its ancient temples.

The hotels will be located within a complex spanning more than five acres. IHCL has claimed that the location is within driving distance from the upcoming Ayodhya International Airport.

The Vivanta Hotel will offer 100 rooms, banqueting spaces and recreational facilities such as a pool and a health club.

The 120-room Ginger property will include a Qmin dining service offering local and global cuisines. Facilities at the hotel will also include meeting rooms and a fitness centre.

IHCL Real Estate & Development executive vice-president Suma Venkatesh said: “These signings are in line with IHCL’s vision to strengthen its presence across spiritual centres in India. Ayodhya is an important pilgrimage site and receives a very high footfall throughout the year.

“These hotels will also complete the travel circuit with Lucknow and Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh. We are delighted to partner with Bhardwaj Global Infraventures Private Limited for these two hotels.”

Bhardwaj Global Infraventures director Ramendra Pratap Singh and project head Shivendra Pratap Singh said: “The Vivanta and Ginger hotels will be the first branded hotels in Ayodhya and will deliver a world-class hospitality experience to the guests visiting the holy city.”

The new hotels will bring the total number of IHCL properties across Taj, Vivanta, SeleQtions and Ginger brands across Uttar Pradesh to 19, including nine under development.

In January this year, IHCL opened a SeleQtions branded hotel in Dudhwa, Uttar Pradesh. The Jaagir Manor hotel is located in the heart of the rainforests of the Terai Himalayas bordering Nepal.
