Lemon Tree Hotels has received Gold Certification from the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) on its three existing hotels, The Economic Times has reported.

Since its establishment in 2002, the hospitality company has incorporated sustainability as an element of its policies.

Hyderabad’s Lemon Tree Hotel, Gachibowli, Bengaluru’s Lemon Tree Hotel, Electronics City and Lemon Tree Premier, Ulsoor Lake bring the total number of IGBC Gold accredited hotels to 11, constituting 28% of the company’s owned hotels.

The company aims to establish 100% green-owned hotels by 2026 through an integrated approach to hotel design as well as considering the life cycle impact of materials used.

All owned hotels have been built to IGBC Gold criteria since 2012, with two hotels receiving certification as early as 2015.

Lemon Tree Hotels chairman and managing director Patanjali Keswani said: “This endorsement by IGBC for our properties reinforces our commitment to environmental, social and governance.
