Meliá Hotels International has revealed plans to open a new property in China, which will mark its exclusive brand The Meliá Collection’s debut in Asia.

The hotel will be built in the Arxan region, known as the Chinese Alps, in Inner Mongolia’s northeast area. It will be situated close to two ski resorts that have snow for seven months.

The Meliá Collection comprises a selected group of luxury hotels and the property is the company’s 11th hotel.

The hotel, designed as a mountain retreat, is set to open in 2026 and will include a restaurant, multiple meeting rooms and wellness facilities, in addition to having 44 villas and over 90 guest rooms.

Along with the upcoming Meliá Arxan Ski and Hot Spring Resort, which was initially announced in 2019, the hotel will be part of a more expansive collection of facilities.

Meliá Hotels International Asia Pacific managing director Ignacio Martín said: “The recovery of tourism in China is obviously a stimulus for us to continue our growth in the country.
