IHG Hotels and Resorts (IHG) has entered a master development agreement with Tashyid for Hotel Operations with plans to develop 12 Holiday Inn Express-branded hotels across Saudi Arabia, comprising a total of 2,500 rooms.
Furthermore, the development plans will also allow the company to meet the demand created by initiatives under the government’s Saudi Vision 2030.
Through the Holiday Inn Express brand’s launch in Saudi Arabia, IHG is keen to cater to new-age smart travellers in business, leisure and meetings segments. The targeted guests include millennials and Generation Z travellers.
As part of the agreement, IHG and Tashyid for Hotels Operations have signed the first Holiday Inn Express hotel, to be developed on Al Madinah Road in Jeddah.
Expected to open by June 2025, the Holiday Inn Express Jeddah will provide 300 guest rooms, which will have amenities such as smart TVs, high-speed Wi-Fi and premium bedding.
Guests will be provided with a signature complimentary ‘Express Start Breakfast’ and a speedy check-in.

“Holiday Inn Express is a great offering for smart travellers who seek a hassle-free and efficient stay experience and we are looking forward to providing this experience to guests across the country, in the coming years.”
The hotels will be developed with a focus on the Millennial and Gen Z Saudi traveller, catering to their lifestyle and requirements. They will be designed with reimagined public spaces and guest rooms.
The public spaces will be designed as lively and engaging spaces with an improved food and beverage offering. The guest rooms will blend home comforts with smart design.
IHG’s current operations in Saudi Arabia include 39 hotels across five brands, comprising InterContinental, Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza, voco and Staybridge Suites.
The company’s development pipeline includes 30 hotels, which are expected to be opened within the next three to five years.
The latest agreement comes after IHG signed a management agreement with Al Woroud Real Estate last month to open a new-build Holiday Inn Express hotel in the central Olaya district, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
