InterContinental Sapporo will be IHG’s fifth hotel in Hokkaido and its 11th InterContinental-branded hotel in Japan. It also marks the debut of a luxury hotel in Sapporo.
The property will be situated on the upper levels (9th to 14th floors) of a new structure in the AXA Sapporo Nakajima Park Project, as revealed by AXA.
Along with two dining locations, a lounge, bar, a function room, an indoor pool and a gym, the hotel will have 149 guest rooms ranging from a 42m² lead-in room to a 159m² suite.
IHG Hotels and Resorts Japan and Micronesia managing director and IHG ANA Hotels Group Japan CEO Abhijay Sandilya said: “I am honoured that AXA Life Insurance Company will introduce IHG’s flagship InterContinental brand to Hokkaido with the opening of InterContinental Sapporo.
“As the world’s largest luxury hotel brand and one with a strong presence and heritage in Japan, we are confident that the InterContinental brand will attract both domestic and international tourists as it debuts in Sapporo as the first international luxury hotel in Sapporo City.”
