Leighton Middle East Contracting, the Oman unit of Habtoor Leighton Group (HLG), is all set to commence construction work on a $78m resort hotel in Muscat, Oman.
To be operated by Jumeirah Group, the 5-star hotel will feature 206 rooms, a beachfront ballroom for weddings and events, spa and sports activities including a dive centre, and speciality restaurants that will offer various international cuisines.
The hotel project is part of the first construction phase of the $600m Saraya Bandar Jissah integrated tourism complex, which includes construction of a boutique hotel, recreational facilities and residential neighbourhoods. The hotel is expected to be completed in 2017.
HLG was appointed by Oman-based developer Saraya Bandar Jissah, the company developing Oman’s newest integrated tourism complex, for the construction of the resort hotel.
HLG CEO and managing director José Antonio López-Monís said, "This is our first contract with Saraya Bandar Jissah and we are proud to be selected as the main contractor to deliver what will be a flagship hotel in the region."
Saraya Bandar Jissah CEO Sheikh Hamood Al Hosni said that the company is pleased to be working with HLG.
