Omran, the Government of Oman’s tourism development and investment arm, has officially opened the Crowne Plaza Duqm hotel.

The four-star Crowne Plaza Duqm houses 213 guest rooms, including 16 junior suites, two one-bedroom suites, two two-bedroom suits, and one royal suite.

It also offers a range of dining facilities, a fitness centre, swimming pool, business centre, ballroom and meeting and conference facilities.

The hotel opening is part of the company’s efforts to extend Oman’s tourism infrastructure to emerging governorates such as Al Wusta.

The Crowne Plaza Duqm is the second development in Al Wusta Governorate to be developed by Omran in the last two years, after the opening of the three-star City Hotel Duqm in 2012.

The Research Council international relations assistant secretary general Sayyid Taimur bin As’ad al Said said, "The creation of tourism properties such as the strategically placed Crowne Plaza Duqm will complement the expansion of Oman’s economic diversification centrepiece, enhance the Wilayat’s tourism potential and ensure the availability of sufficient accommodation for discerning business and recreational travellers."

Presently, Omran is developing a number of major projects including the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre‚ Alila Jabal Akhdar Resort, W Hotel, Quriyat-Sur Rest Area and the Fort Hotel.
