Private equity real estate manager Henderson Park and Klarent Hospitality have acquired the Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh – The Caledonian in Edinburgh, Scotland, the UK.
Located at Princes Street, the 241-room hotel is a category A listed building which was completed in 1903.
The Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh – The Caledonian, named after the original owner of the building – Caledonian Railway Company, is marked as the third Edinburgh hotel in the Klarent Hilton portfolio of Henderson Park.
Amenities at the five-star include a fitness centre, an on-site restaurant, a spa, an indoor pool and meeting rooms.
The latest move follows the purchase of Carlton on North Bridge, located at the other end of Princes Street, as well as the Doubletree Edinburgh Airport, as part of a 2,424-room, 12-hotel portfolio deal in November 2021.
Henderson Park chief executive and founder Nick Weber said: “This transaction presents us with a rare opportunity to acquire an iconic hotel with an incredible 120-year heritage that is part of the very fabric of Edinburgh society.

The acquirers noted that they have identified several opportunities to invest in the Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh – The Caledonian for creating value and improving the consumer experience by renovating the hotel rooms, as well as upgrading and restoring the public areas and facilities.
