By GlobalDataUnder the Heritage Hideaway offer, guests can also explore the neighbouring Eisei Bunko Museum, which features a collection of 94,000 artefacts, including eight national treasures.
This museum was the erstwhile residence of the Hosokawa family, who ruled over the Higo clan in modern-day Kumamoto city.
Guests can also visit the Higo Hosokawa Garden, located next to the museum.
Shoseikaku, a historic building that originally served as the Hosokawa family’s study institute and mansion, is also an option for guests to explore.
This building hosts a Japanese café called Tsubaki Lounge, which offers dessert sets with matcha and kaseita, a traditional treat of the Hosokawa family.
Among the list of other cultural attractions is the famous haiku poet Matsuo Basho’s former residence, Sekiguchi Bashoan, which is situated between the museum and the Higo Hosokawa Garden.
The hotel is a 10-minute walk from Edogawabashi Station on the Yurakucho Line (Tokyo metro) and roughly a 20-minute walk from Waseda Station on the Tozai Line.
