Hotel Indigo, a luxury hotel brand under IHG Hotels & Resorts, has opened its fourth property in Japan.

The Hotel Indigo Tokyo Shibuya is located in the Shibuya neighbourhood of Tokyo and has been developed in collaboration with Pan Pacific International Holdings Corporation.

Hotel Indigo Tokyo Shibuya general manager Rebecca Thorn stated: “We are very proud to open the fourth Hotel Indigo in Japan, and the first in an urban setting. Hotel Indigo Tokyo Shibuya is a celebration of one of the world’s most diverse, ever-evolving neighbourhoods.

“Our hotel brings to life Shibuya’s culture of art, fashion, music and design, and we can’t wait to share our stories. We are certain that our guests will discover new and exciting experiences in Shibuya.”

The hotel’s public spaces feature linear designs inspired by the famous landmark, Shibuya’s Scramble Crossing.

Its reception area on the 12th floor has a “Kaleidoscopic Urban Jungle” theme.

The hotel has 272 rooms, each featuring a collection of vinyl records and views of Mount Fuji and the Tokyo Skytree.

The property also features Gallery 11, a restaurant serving Mediterranean and Japanese fusion dishes.

Guests can enjoy a cup of freshly brewed coffee and waffles shaped like Hachiko, the famous Akita dog statue in Shibuya, at the hotel’s neighbourhood café, Shibrewya.

Hotel Indigo Tokyo Shibuya is a short distance from Shibuya Scramble Crossing, one of the world’s busiest and most renowned pedestrian crossings.

In 2020, the Hotel Indigo brand debuted in Japan with the openings of Hotel Indigo Hakone Gora and Hotel Indigo Karuizawa.

The debuts were followed by the opening of the Hotel Indigo Inuyama Urakuen Garden in 2022.

In 2024, the brand plans to launch in the city of Nagasaki.
