Luxury hospitality brand AKA has opened its 36-storey Hotel AKA Brickell in Miami, US, following a $16m redesign project.
Situated in the Brickell area on 1395 Brickell Avenue, the 201-room hotel was purchased by AKA in 2021.
The redesign project was led by the architectural firm Gabellini Sheppard Associates (Gabellini Sheppard).
AKA CEO Larry Korman said: “AKA’s continuous journey is what inspires me every day and one of the most significant milestones of that journey is with what we envisioned and evolved at Hotel AKA Brickell.
“We transformed a very corporate design, reimagined it with what AKA is known for and brought life to the property by adding an atmosphere AKA guests expect. We made sure that in every new space, guests could feel the calm.”
Gabellini Sheppard Partner Michael Gabellini said: “We were so excited to work with AKA as we have a very similar aesthetic and design philosophy, including incorporating sustainable design principles.

By GlobalData“Both Larry and I were able to take our collaborative approaches and infuse so much of what we both envisioned for Hotel AKA Brickell.”
The renovation included additions such as an outdoor greeting area, which leads to a newly designed ground-floor lobby.
The hotel’s 25th floor, which previously featured a lobby, now offers a lounge with views of the Miami skyline and the surrounding tropical greenery.
The additions also include a new restaurant and bar named ADRIFT by Michelin-starred chef David Myers, which recently opened this summer.
This new dining space is situated in an 11-storey atrium, offering views of Brickell and Biscayne Bay.
Other amenities being provided at the property include a rooftop with a pool, a Technogym fitness facility, Sky Bar + Grill, Leaf Spa and an open-air event space called Sky Lawn.
