Sarovar Hotels & Resorts has allied with its former partner Karim Teja to open two hotels in Kenya’s capital Nairobi in January 2024, as reported by BWHotelier.

The company has re-entered the country after a hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The two hotels are The Heron, which will be relaunched as The Heron by Sarovar Portico India and The Zehneria, which will be relaunched as The Zehneria by Sarovar Portico India.

Strategically located in Nairobi, the two hotels are aimed at business and leisure travellers.

Sarovar Hotels & Resorts managing director Ajay K Bakaya said: “We are well acquainted with Nairobi and thrilled to be back to relaunch our Portico brand.

“The Portico brand enjoys familiarity and is a trusted name in the region that represents renowned Indian hospitality standards, exceptional guest services and value-driven pricing. Our re-entry into the market signifies a reinvigorated commitment to our guests and our industry.”

Situated at Jakaya Kikwete Road, The Heron by Sarovar Portico India will feature 108 rooms and offers a range of amenities, such as a heated swimming pool, a sauna, a gym and free Wi-Fi.

The dining options at the hotel will include an all-day dining restaurant, The Bashasha, as well as The Mdalasini restaurant, which will feature a patio and balcony.

The Zehneria by Sarovar Portico India is located at Karuna Road and will offer 56 rooms.

In August, Sarovar Hotels & Resorts opened a luxury boutique hotel in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh and opened Royale Sarovar Portico in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, India.
