Driftwood Hospitality Management (DHM) has taken over the management of the Hilton Garden Inn San José City Mall in Costa Rica.
Situated in Alajuela, just outside the capital, San José, the hotel is Hilton Garden Inn’s 1,000th property globally, according to a DHM press release posted on HospitalityNet.
The 149-key hotel, which opened in January 2024, is DHM’s second international property.
DHM founder and president David Buddemeyer said: “As our second property assignment in Costa Rica, we will bring a tailored approach that meets the needs of this market while delivering the high standard of professionalism demonstrated throughout our portfolio.”
DHM intends to implement a comprehensive management strategy to enhance the guest experience at the hotel.
DHM acquisitions and development vice-president Andrew Stevens said: “The management responsibilities of this new hotel are not just about expanding our portfolio; it is about embracing setting new benchmarks in guest experiences, operational excellence and community engagement.

Hilton Garden Inn San José City Mall was constructed last year, adjacent to City Mall Alajuela on Francisco J Orlich Roa.
It had been developed by Corporación LadyLee based in San Pedro Sula, Honduras.
The hotel caters to both business and leisure travellers, offering a range of on-site amenities such as a restaurant, outdoor pool, fitness centre and a bar lounge.
It also features multiple meeting rooms, electric vehicle charging stations and a business centre.
It is a three-minute drive away from SJO International Airport, offering guests access to nearby shopping destinations and attractions.
This comes after DHM’s announcement in December 2022 that it will take over the management of Palihouse Miami Beach and rename it Hotel Trouvail Miami Beach.
