Global real estate services company CBRE has been appointed as the sole agent for Eco Tree Hotel Hong Kong’s public tender sale.

The property, located at No. 160 Des Voeux Road West, Hong Kong, features a 24-storey building with a gross floor area of nearly 66,144ft².

It was transformed into a hotel in 2015 and offers 93 guest rooms, many of which provide sea views of Victoria Harbour from the mid-to-high floors.

The hotel also includes commercial spaces on the lower six floors, with restaurants and spa centres currently occupying the ground to fourth floors, and office spaces on the fifth and sixth floors.

These dining options include HN Spicy Hot Restaurant on the third floor and another venue on the ground floor that offers a selection of Cantonese and Sichuan cuisine.

Eco Tree Hotel Hong Kong is a five-minute drive from the International Finance Centre in Central and a seven-minute drive from the University of Hong Kong.

The hotel offers direct access to the Sai Ying Pun MTR station, which is one stop from the University of Hong Kong station and two stops from Central Station.

CBRE Hong Kong executive director and Capital Markets head Reeves Yan said: “The most significant highlight of this property is its flexibility for conversion into student housing.

“The rooms in Eco Tree Hotel Hong Kong are spacious, have decent ceiling height, and offer flexible and versatile conversion options. In addition, the property is only two stops away from Central, making it an ideal choice for talent apartments on Hong Kong Island. With the continuous rise in residential rents in the surrounding areas, converting the property into student apartments is expected to bring considerable returns.”

This sale follows a recent transaction facilitated by CBRE in Barcelona, Spain.

This deal included the acquisition of Casa Lit Barcelona Hotel by Gargallo Hotel Group from a joint venture between Stoneweg and Bain Capital.
