IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed a management agreement with Peachery to establish Holiday Inn Ujjain hotel, aiming to open doors in 2028.
This move is part of IHG’s strategy to expand in India’s secondary markets.
The upcoming property will cater to the needs of spiritual travellers and those attending weddings in Ujjain, a city celebrated for its cultural heritage and religious significance.
Ujjain is set to host the Kumbh Mela in 2028, coinciding with the opening of the new hotel. The city is also known for the Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga temple, a revered shrine among the 12 Jyotirlingas.
IHG Hotels & Resorts South West Asia managing director Sudeep Jain said: “Ujjain is one of the key spiritual destinations in India and is rightfully experiencing a rise in demand from multi-generational travellers due to the growing interest in religious and spiritual tourism.
“Its appeal as a major pilgrimage site, as well as a popular location for destination weddings, makes it an ideal match for the Holiday Inn brand. We are confident that Holiday Inn Ujjain will offer an enriching experience for visitors seeking spiritual solace, or once-in-a-lifetime celebrations.”
