Accor, a hospitality group, has signed an agreement with FC Elimai to introduce an ibis hotel in Semey, Kazakhstan.

The 100-room establishment is expected to open in 2027.

The hotel’s design will be influenced by the Agora concept of ibis, which was created by Austrian design team, Innocad.

The ibis Semey will boast social areas, a restaurant and bar, and a fitness centre.

To cater to the needs of business travellers and local events, the hotel will also feature flexible meeting spaces.

The property is strategically located near the Irtysh River, with easy access to the Semey International Airport.

This latest venture is part of Accor’s growth strategy within Kazakhstan, where the group already operates 13 properties under various brands.

Guests at ibis Semey will have the opportunity to join ALL, Accor’s lifestyle loyalty programme that offers a suite of rewards, services, and experiences.

Accor New East Europe chief operating officer Alexis Delaroff said: “Kazakhstan offers a great mixture of culture, history and natural landscapes, which is attracting more travellers domestically and internationally. Semey is an important cultural and educational hub in Kazakhstan, and it is the perfect addition to further expand our presence in the country with another world-recognised brand.”

Launched in 1974, ibis operates more than 1,200 hotels across 70 countries and currently has more than 130 projects underway.
