The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) has expanded its footprint in the state of Gujarat with the signing of Palitana Palace under the Taj brand.

According to the hospitality company, the Palitana Palace will offer 65 “luxurious” rooms and suites, after undergoing restoration.

This hotel will include various amenities, including a gym, swimming pool, spa, an all-day diner, and a speciality restaurant.

It will also include a 3,000ft² ballroom, multiple meeting spaces, and outdoor lawns for social gatherings.

IHCL stated that a collection of royal art and historical artefacts will also be showcased within the property.

IHCL managing director and CEO Puneet Chhatwal said: “As one of Gujarat’s revered destinations, Palitana holds immense potential for spiritual tourism. This also presents an opportunity for us to build the social and weddings segment in the region.”

The project is being executed in partnership with Trident Developers, represented by HH Thakore Saheb Mandhatasinhji Jadeja, a descendant of the Jadeja Royal Family of Rajkot.

With the signing of Taj Palitana Palace, IHCL’s portfolio in Gujarat has increased to 29 hotels, ten of which are under development.

Chhatwal added: “We are honoured to partner with His Highness Thakore Saheb Mandhatasinhji Jadeja of Rajkot to bring the Palitana Palace under the Taj brand.

“This addition reinforces our commitment to preserving India’s rich heritage and expanding our portfolio of Palaces, Havelis and Forts.”

Last month, IHCL signed the 156-key Taj Alibaug Resort & Spa in Maharashtra.

In addition, IHCL opened Taj Mussoorie Foothills in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, a 115-key property with 16 suites set against the backdrop of the Himalayan foothills.

IHCL currently has 368 hotels worldwide, with 128 under development across four continents.
