Management Occupations drive online travel-related hiring activity
Management Occupations, with a share of 36%, emerged as the top online travel-related job roles within the travel and tourism industry in Q4 2023, with new job postings rising by 15% quarter-on-quarter. Computer and Mathematical Occupations came in second with a share of 13% in Q4 2023, with new job postings dropping by 8% over the previous quarter.
The other prominent online travel roles include Office and Administrative Support Occupations with a 9% share in Q4 2023, Business and Financial Operations Occupations with a 8% share of new job postings.
Top five companies in travel and tourism industry accounted for 73% of hiring activity
The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q4 2023 were Expedia Group, Booking, Trip Group, TripAdvisor, and Shangri-La Asia. Together they accounted for a combined share of 73% of all online travel-related new jobs in the travel and tourism industry.
Expedia Group posted 358 online travel-related new jobs in Q4 2023, Booking 281 jobs, Trip Group 126 jobs, TripAdvisor 123 jobs, and Shangri-La Asia 69 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.
Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 28.03% share of total new job postings, Q4 2023
The largest share of online travel-related new job postings in the travel and tourism industry in Q4 2023 was in the US with 28.03% followed by the UK (12.19%) and the Netherlands (11.88%). The share represented by the US was one percentage point higher than the 27.11% share it accounted for in Q3 2023.
