Management Occupations drive social responsibility-related hiring activity
Management Occupations, with a share of 29%, emerged as the top social responsibility-related job roles within the travel and tourism industry in Q4 2023, with new job postings rising by 51% quarter-on-quarter. Food Preparation and Serving Related Occupations came in second with a share of 20% in Q4 2023, with new job postings rising by 38% over the previous quarter.
The other prominent social responsibility roles include Office and Administrative Support Occupations with an 8% share in Q4 2023, Installation, Maintenance, and Repair Occupations with a 3% share of new job postings.
Top five companies in travel and tourism industry accounted for 60% of hiring activity
The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q4 2023 were Marriott International, Accor, Hilton Worldwide, Shangri-La Asia, and Whitbread. Together they accounted for a combined share of 60% of all social responsibility-related new jobs in the travel and tourism industry.
Marriott International posted 6,542 social responsibility-related new jobs in Q4 2023, Accor 1,620 jobs, Hilton Worldwide 1,431 jobs, Shangri-La Asia 775 jobs, and Whitbread 433 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.
Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 33.36% share of total new job postings, Q4 2023
The largest share of social responsibility-related new job postings in the travel and tourism industry in Q4 2023 was in the US with 33.36% followed by the UK (7.99%) and India (7.92%). The share represented by the US was six percentage points lower than the 39.79% share it accounted for in Q3 2023.
