July 2021 has seen an increase of 4.68% in the overall hiring activity when compared with June 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 2.88% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in July 2021, registering decrease of 0.48% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in July 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 60.78% in July 2021, a 36.03% drop over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 10.9% in July 2021, marking a 47.13% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 10.31% in July 2021, a 9.38% drop from June 2021.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 4.64% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s travel & tourism industry during July 2021 over previous month.
Walt Disney posted 136 IT jobs in July 2021 and registered an increase of 3.03% over the previous month, followed by Uber Technologies with 74 jobs and a 21.28% drop. Expedia Group with 54 IT jobs and Delta Air Lines with 42 jobs, recorded a 45.95% growth and a 61.54% increase, respectively, while Hawaiian Holdings recorded a 5.88% decline with 32 job postings during July 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s travel & tourism industry
The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s travel & tourism industry IT hiring activity with a 91.35% share in July 2021, a 28.15% decline over June 2021. Canada featured next with an 8.29% share, down 23.91% over the previous month. Mexico recorded a 0.36% share, a drop of 85% compared with June 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in July 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 59.48%, down by 34.38% from June 2021. Mid Level positions with a 25.47% share, a decline of 25.09% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 14.69% share, down 3.88% over June 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.36%, recording a month-on-month decline of 25%.
