South & Central America witnessed a 1.5% decline in IT hiring activity in the consumer industry in July 2021 compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics index.

July 2021 has seen a decrease of 0.49% in the overall hiring activity when compared with June 2021.

IT jobs accounted for a 2.31% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in July 2021, registering an increase of 0.16% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in July 2021

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in South & Central America with a share of 40% in July 2021, a 22.22% growth over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 20% in July 2021, marking a 21.43% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 14.55% in July 2021, a 14.29% growth from June 2021.

Computer and Information Analysts registered a share of 12.73% in July 2021, a 22.22% decline over the previous month.

Top five consumer companies in South & Central America’s IT recruitment activity in July 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 60% in the overall IT recruitment activity of South & Central America’s consumer industry during July 2021 over previous month.

Kimberly-Clark posted 12 IT jobs in July 2021 and registered an increase of 9.09% over the previous month, followed by BRF with 9 jobs and a 28.57% growth. AB Electrolux with 5 IT jobs and Anheuser-Busch InBev with 3 jobs, recorded a 400% growth and a 200% increase, respectively, while JBS recorded a flat growth with 3 job postings during July 2021.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in South & Central America’s consumer industry

Brazil commanded a leading presence in the region’s consumer industry IT hiring activity with a 52.73% share in July 2021, a 20.83% rise over June 2021. Argentina featured next with an 18.18% share, up 25% over the previous month. Costa Rica recorded a 9.09% share, a drop of 16.67% compared with June 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in July 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 70.91%, down by 4.88% from June 2021. Mid Level positions with an 18.18% share, a growth of 42.86% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 10.91% share, up 20% over June 2021.
