American Airlines’ New Employee-Only Hotel
American Airlines has opened a new hotel for its tens of thousands of flight attendants, pilots and other front-line workers who fly in for training each year at its 300-acre corporate campus near Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport.
The 600-room Skyview 6 opened in late January and boasts a tavern with an airy patio, supersize gym, lap pool, free cruiser bikes, sushi-to-go and bathroom mirrors with bluetooth connections.

Only American Airlines employees are allowed to stay at the hotel – as a result of which they are expressing the wish for similar quality hotels when they are travelling for work.
Among other major US airlines, only JetBlue Airways has its own training hotel, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Employee input shapes Skyview 6’s luxurious amenities and aviation nostalgia
American Airlines’ employees were consulted on the hotel’s must-haves and must-nots, and their touches and aviation nostalgia are everywhere, with artwork from the airline’s Stewardess College hanging in the lobby.
The hotel rooms include recliners, blackout curtains and safes big enough to store laptops and tablets. Each floor has a lounge for employees to hang out when they need a study break.

American Airlines captain raves about Skyview 6
American Airlines captain Dennis Tajer, a frequent critic of the airline in his role as spokesman for the Allied Pilots Association, stayed at Skyview 6 for five nights in March for annual training and raved about the place.
He used the free bikes to ride around the campus, worked out in the gym and enjoyed the tavern and cafeteria.
