IT jobs accounted for a 5.15% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in May 2022, registering a decrease of 0.09% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in May 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 64.12% in May 2022, a 21.74% rise over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 13.23% in May 2022, marking a 33.33% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 9.92% in May 2022, a 44.44% rise from April 2022.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 48.81% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s travel & tourism industry during May 2022 over previous month.
Uber Technologies posted 72 IT jobs in May 2022 and registered an increase of 132.26% over the previous month, followed by Booking Holdings with 64 jobs and a 178.26% growth. A.P. Moller – Maersk with 50 IT jobs and The Walt Disney with 35 jobs, recorded a 2.04% rise and a flat growth, respectively, while Expedia Group recorded a 3.33% decline with 29 job postings during May 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s travel & tourism industry
India commanded a leading presence in the region’s travel & tourism industry IT hiring activity with a 49.62% share in May 2022, a 71.05% increase over April 2022. Australia featured next with a 9.67% share, up 31.03% over the previous month. Malaysia recorded an 8.4% share, a drop of 8.33% compared with April 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in May 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 67.94%, up by 25.94% from April 2022. Mid Level positions with a 17.81% share, registered a growth of 16.67% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 14.25% share, up 80.65% over April 2022.
