May 2022 has seen an increase of 3.03% in the overall hiring activity when compared with April 2022.
IT jobs accounted for a 4.06% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in May 2022, registering a decrease of 0.26% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in May 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Europe with a share of 63.59% in May 2022, a 1.55% rise over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 15.29% in May 2022, marking a 3.08% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 10.68% in May 2022, a 13.73% drop from April 2022.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 7.44% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Europe’s travel & tourism industry during May 2022 over previous month.
Booking Holdings posted 65 IT jobs in May 2022 and registered a decline of 30.11% over the previous month, followed by A.P. Moller – Maersk with 48 jobs and a 33.33% growth. FlixMobility with 42 IT jobs and Deutsche Bahn with 25 jobs, recorded a 2.44% rise and a 13.64% rise, respectively, while Deutsche Lufthansa recorded a 17.39% decline with 19 job postings during May 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Europe’s travel & tourism industry
The UK commanded a leading presence in the region’s travel & tourism industry IT hiring activity with a 31.8% share in May 2022, a 37.89% increase over April 2022. Germany featured next with a 19.9% share, down 8.89% over the previous month. Netherlands recorded a 15.29% share, a drop of 21.25% compared with April 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in May 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 70.63%, down by 7.62% from April 2022. Mid Level positions with a 17.96% share, registered a growth of 25.42% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with an 11.41% share, up 56.67% over April 2022.
