December 2021 has seen a decrease of 11.18% in the overall hiring activity when compared with November 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 6.54% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in December 2021, registering an increase of 0.83% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in December 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Europe with a share of 58.05% in December 2021, a 13.38% drop over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 19.45% in December 2021, marking a 12.33% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 11.25% in December 2021, a 32.11% drop from November 2021.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 15.18% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Europe’s travel & tourism industry during December 2021 over previous month.
A.P. Moller – Maersk posted 93 IT jobs in December 2021 and registered a decline of 29.01% over the previous month, followed by Deutsche Bahn with 69 jobs and an 8% drop. Deutsche Lufthansa with 44 IT jobs and Schenker Deutschland with 41 jobs, recorded a 21.43% drop and a 6.82% drop, respectively, while Caesars Entertainment recorded a 26.67% increase with 38 job postings during December 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Europe’s travel & tourism industry
Germany commanded a leading presence in the region’s travel & tourism industry IT hiring activity with a 37.08% share in December 2021, an 8.44% increase over November 2021. The UK featured next with a 25.38% share, down 13.02% over the previous month. France recorded an 8.97% share, a drop of 23.38% compared with November 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in December 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 71.12%, down by 19.73% from November 2021. Mid Level positions with a 16.57% share, registered a decline of 11.38% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 11.7% share, down 8.33% over November 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.61%, recording a month-on-month growth of 33.33%.
