India’s travel & tourism industry registered an 11.6% drop in IT hiring activity in August 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 0.19% in August 2022 when compared with July 2022.

Out of the travel & tourism industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 13.91% share in August 2022, recording a decrease of 2.63% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in India’s travel & tourism industry’s IT recruitment activity in August 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of India’s travel & tourism industry in August 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 70.18% in August 2022, registering a 24.05% decline over the previous month.

2) Computer and Information Analysts claimed a 13.45% share, a flat growth over the previous month.

3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 11.11%, registering a 24% decline from July 2022.

4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 4.68%, down 55.56% over the previous month.

Top five travel & tourism companies in India’s IT recruitment activity in August 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 17.5% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of India’s travel & tourism industry during August 2022 over July 2022.

A.P. Moller – Maersk posted 63 IT jobs in August 2022 and registered a drop of 25% over the previous month, followed by Sixt with 29 jobs and a flat growth. The Walt Disney with 23 IT jobs and Booking Holdings with 9 jobs, recorded a 58.93% decline and a 200% growth, respectively, while Capital A recorded a decline of 52.94% with 8 job postings during August 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 62.57%, down by 24.11% from July 2022. Mid Level positions with a 29.24% share, registered a decline of 26.47% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with an 8.19% share, down 17.65% over July 2022.
