September 2021 has seen a decrease of 6.17% in the overall hiring activity when compared with August 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 2.69% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in September 2021, registering an increase of 0.13% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in September 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Middle East & Africa with a share of 48.44% in September 2021, a 29.17% rise over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 20.31% in September 2021, marking a 44.44% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Computer and Information Analysts with a share of 14.06% in September 2021, a 50% rise from August 2021.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 37.5% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Middle East & Africa’s travel & tourism industry during September 2021 over previous month.
Uber Technologies posted 10 IT jobs in September 2021 and registered an increase of 100% over the previous month, followed by Qatar Airways Group QCSC with 8 jobs and a 33.33% drop. Expedia Group with 6 IT jobs and DP World with 5 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a 150% rise, respectively, while Etihad Aviation Group recorded a 20% decline with 4 job postings during September 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Middle East & Africa’s travel & tourism industry
United Arab Emirates commanded a leading presence in the region’s travel & tourism industry IT hiring activity with a 35.94% share in September 2021, a 35.29% increase over August 2021. Israel featured next with a 14.06% share, up 50% over the previous month. Qatar recorded a 14.06% share, a drop of 25% compared with August 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 62.5%, up by 33.33% from August 2021. Mid Level positions with a 25% share, registered a growth of 14.29% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 12.5% share, up 33.33% over August 2021.
