September 2022 has seen a decrease of 5.38% in the overall hiring activity when compared with August 2022.
IT jobs accounted for a 2.59% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in September 2022, registering a decrease of 0.23% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in September 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 47.37% in September 2022, an 18.28% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 27.45% in September 2022, marking a 15.13% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Computer and Information Analysts with a share of 9.15% in September 2022, a 9.82% drop from August 2022.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 16.23% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s travel & tourism industry during September 2022 over previous month.
The Walt Disney posted 229 IT jobs in September 2022 and registered a decline of 22.9% over the previous month, followed by Marriott International with 65 jobs and a 5.8% drop. Aimbridge Hospitality with 61 IT jobs and Bally’s with 48 jobs, recorded a 17.57% drop and a 6.67% rise, respectively, while National Railroad Passenger recorded a 9.8% decline with 46 job postings during September 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s travel & tourism industry
The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s travel & tourism industry IT hiring activity with a 91.49% share in September 2022, a 16.74% decrease over August 2022. Canada featured next with an 8.06% share, flat growth over the previous month. Mexico recorded a 0.36% share, a drop of 76.47% compared with August 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 62.14%, down by 14.78% from August 2022. Mid Level positions with a 22.46% share, registered a decline of 30.14% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 14.95% share, up 4.43% over August 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.27%, recording a month-on-month growth of 200%.
