InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has opened the first Holiday Inn Resort property in the south-east US state of Georgia on Jekyll Island.
The Holiday Inn Resort Jekyll Island hotel, which recently completed $22m renovation, is owned by Georgia Coast Holdings and managed by NorthPointe Hospitality Management.
IHG Americas Holiday Inn brand vice-president Maurice Cooper said: "With locations around the world, the Holiday Inn brand plays an important role in the journeys of guests wherever they travel, from the boardroom to the beach.
"As part of that iconic brand family, the Holiday Inn Resort Jekyll Island, our first resort in Georgia, provides both the warm service and modern amenities our guests expect and an immersive experience in the Golden Isles, creating lasting memories and unforgettable family vacations."
The three-storey property comprises 157 guest rooms, including 21 suites, and a private beach and poolside lounge.
It is near to multiple outdoor land and sea-based activities including bike rentals, beach chair and umbrella rentals, paddle boarding and skim boarding. The property is also close to local attractions such as Summer Waves Water Park, Jekyll Island Golf Course and the Georgia Sea Turtle Centre.

IHG also opened the Holiday Inn Resort Fort Walton Beach property and signed for Holiday Inn Resort-Pagosa Springs hotel in 2014 in the US.
