A partnership between hospitality technology company Amadeus and UN Tourism has released a report indicating a sustained increase in travel demand to the Americas, with North America leading as the most sought-after destination.

The report, titled ‘Travel Insights: Focus on Americas, September to December 2024’, showcases a 13% growth in interest for North America and a 12% increase for Central America.

It also aims to assist various tourism stakeholders in understanding and capitalising on the latest travel trends within the Americas, as well as highlights that the top ten most searched destinations remain unchanged from 2023, with Canada, the US and Mexico at the forefront.

Notably, Mexico’s beach destinations saw a 19% surge in searches while Chile, Colombia and Peru experienced the highest growth rates in the region.

The insights into subregions for the last four months of the year reveal that North America draws the most searches from travellers in the US, the UK, Canada, and Brazil, with New York City being the prime destination.

Central America’s interest is led by Costa Rica and Panama, with El Salvador witnessing a 25% growth. In the Caribbean, Puerto Rico has become the second most searched destination.
