The Best Western Wessex Royale Hotel, a Georgian Grade II listed property in Dorchester, UK, has been sold to Sleeping Bear Hotels for an undisclosed sum to Sleeping Bear Hotels.
Specialist business property adviser Christie & Co facilitated the transaction.
The hotel features 29 en-suite guest bedrooms, a dining room, a lounge bar with 64 seats, and a function room with a seating capacity of 70 guests.
Recently, the hotel underwent renovations and a full refurbishment.
The previous owner, who has managed the hotel since 2002, decided to sell the property to concentrate on other business interests.
Sleeping Bear Hotels is run by Tudor and Lucy Hopkins, who also own a portfolio of boutique properties in Wiltshire and Somerset.

“We believe this approach will be successful not only here in Dorchester, but across the UK. The hotel will be rebranded later this month.”
Christie & Co South West Hotels director Stephen Champion said: “On behalf of our private clients, we are delighted to announce the sale of the Wessex Royale Hotel to Sleeping Bear Hotels.
“The excellent condition of the property and prime location in the centre of Dorset’s county town helped drive strong interest in this hotel, with multiple buyers emerging with interest in acquiring this hotel. We wish the new owners every success with their new business venture.”
Last week, Christie & Co oversaw the sale of Walworth Castle Hotel near Darlington to Millwood Hotels, which plans to maintain the castle’s operations as a hotel, restaurant, and event venue.
