UK-based Cairn Hotel Group (CHG) has announced that 31 of its hotels and three standalone bars and restaurants have received Green Tourism accreditation.
Among these, seven hotels have been awarded the silver certification, and 24 venues have earned the bronze recognition.
The accreditation process involved a comprehensive assessment based on 15 sustainability criteria, encompassing the areas of People, Places, and Planet. This holistic approach evaluates the social, economic, and environmental initiatives undertaken by CHG, ensuring a thorough appraisal of its performance.
Sustainable efforts include sourcing eco-friendly materials, creating a sustainable supply chain, and promoting environmentally responsible alternatives. CHG is also implementing new waste management programmes to reduce waste generation, increase recycling rates, and minimise the impact of waste disposal.
In terms of green transportation, CHG promotes car share schemes, cycle-to-work programmes, investment in electric vehicles, and installing EV charging points, all aimed at reducing carbon emissions.
CHG has also launched ‘Stay Your Way’ a sustainability program within its Cairn Collection and independent properties, designed to provide guests with a tailored sustainable stay.
