Central Group subsidiary Centara Hotels & Resorts is set to open eight locations in Thailand as the government relaxed Covid-19 related restrictions.

According to a report in the Bangkok Post, the company decided to reopen the hotels to cater to the domestic tourists.

The publication added that the eight hotels include Centara Grand at CentralPlaza Ladprao Bangkok, Khum Phaya Resort & Spa Centara Boutique Collection, Centra by Centara Government Complex Hotel & Convention Centre Chaeng Watthana, Centara Hotel & Convention Centre Udon Thani, Centara Hotel Hat Yai, Centra by Centara Phu Pano Resort Krabi, Cosi Pattaya Wong Amat Beach and Centara Azure Hotel Pattaya.

All the hotels will implement enhanced hygiene and social distancing guidelines to ensure the safety of the guests and staff.

The company noted that it has recorded 100% occupancy on weekends at some locations after the easing of restrictions.

It is also operating some international locations where the contagion rates are low such as Sri Lanka and Oman.

Thailand has recorded more than 3,200 Covid-19 cases and 58 deaths.

Globally, the pandemic has significantly affected the hospitality industry. Several hotel chains closed their locations temporarily due to restrictions on traveling.

As of 10 July, the disease has claimed more than 555,000 lives, while around 12.3 million people are infected by it.
