US-based RLH has released new hotel cleanliness standards as the hospitality industry explore ways to revive businesses amid Covid-19 pandemic.
The new standards are based on the guidelines issued by the World Health Organization (WHO) and recommendations of trade organisations and commercial cleaning and sanitation companies.
Steps will include the use of physical distancing markers and implementation of social-distancing protocols between hotel staff and hotel guests to limit physical contact.
The frequency of sanitisation and disinfection procedures will be increased especially at public spaces, while the hotels will open rooms based on occupancy levels.
All the hotels should make hand sanitisers available to guests and employees throughout public spaces.
Additionally, the recommendations include ramping up guestroom sanitation and changes in food and beverage service modifications to reduce the use of reusable containers and cups.
