Desolation Hotel has further bolstered its footprint in California by launching a new eco-conscious luxury resort in the Sierra Nevada region.

The newly launched Desolation Hotel Hope Valley will be the luxury brand’s second property in the region after the company launched its first luxury micro-resort in California in South Lake Tahoe last year.

Located in Hope Valley, California, the newly launched property boasts a range of lodging options, including 27 cabins, seven luxury yurts, a restored 1951 Spartan trailer and campgrounds.

The cabins include multiple layouts, comprising studio, one, two and three-bedroom floorplans.

Additionally, the Spartan trailer boasts outdoor patio seats as well as a queen-size bed and a full-sized pullout sofa.

The property also provides amenities such as telescopes for stargazing, outdoor firepits, a wood-fired sauna, summer lawn games and complimentary seasonal gear for outdoor adventurers.

It also features a general store and Sorensen’s Café – an all-day eating destination.

The café will serve specialities such as Alpine Artichoke Fondue and Bavarian-Style Pretzels, as well as fresh drinks, craft beer and local wine.

The new property, similar to the Desolation Hotel South Lake Tahoe, is also pet-friendly and equipped with EV charging stations.

Desolation Hotel co-founder Chet Pipkin said: “Surrounded by rugged beauty and untamed wilderness, this destination further brings to life our commitment to provide access to unforgettable experiences in nature.

“Although the immersion in remote nature differs from the town of South Lake Tahoe, both our properties offer guests an unparalleled opportunity to explore and appreciate this region.

“And we make every effort to give our guests an authentic and immersive local experience, from suggesting off-the-beaten-path swimming holes to sharing our favourite hikes or ski runs.”

The property is located in the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range, roughly 25 minutes from South Lake Tahoe and just over an hour from the Reno-Nevada International Airport.
