Global hospitality company IHG Hotels & Resorts has launched the Garner Hotels brand in Scotland with the signing of Garner Hotel Haymarket Edinburgh.

The 195-room property is expected to welcome guests in the second half of 2025.

A part of the Palm Holdings portfolio, the hotel represents a strategic expansion of IHG’s midscale conversion brand, which was launched in 2023.

The brand emphasises its position in the essentials segment across the UK and Ireland.

Palm Holdings CEO Sheetal Kapoor said: “The transformation of Haymarket Hub Hotel into Garner Hotels by IHG marks an exciting new chapter for this prime Edinburgh property.

“This investment reflects our commitment to modern design, sustainability, and meeting the demand of all our stakeholders. We are thrilled to work alongside IHG to bring this innovative concept to life in Scotland’s capital.”

The hotel is located directly opposite Edinburgh’s Haymarket Station and close to the Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC), further enhancing its appeal to those travelling for business purposes.

The hotel has pledged to donate £1 per guest stay for a limited period to the charity Action Against Hunger once it reopens as Garner Hotel Haymarket Edinburgh.

The integration into IHG’s enterprise offers Garner Hotels properties comprehensive support, including digital capabilities, global sales, and distribution systems.

Garner Hotel Haymarket Edinburgh will be part of a global portfolio that includes 23 open hotels and 94 in development.

IHG Hotels & Resorts Europe Development vice president Willemijn Geels said: “In the past few months, we have opened or signed Garner Hotels in more than six cities across Europe, which is a testament to our growing presence in the essentials segment.

“Garner Hotel Haymarket Edinburgh perfectly exemplifies how our conversion brands are thriving, and with its central location and individual design, I’m confident that the hotel will become a flagship Garner Hotels property in Europe.”

In Europe, it joins 61 open and pipeline properties such as Garner Hotel Rome Aurelia in Italy, Garner Hotel Istanbul – Airport Arnavutkoy in Turkey, and several in the DACH market.

This expansion follows the recent launch of Garner Hotel Preston Samlesbury in the UK market.
