Allen & Overy and White & Case have emerged as the leading legal advisers for mergers and acquisitions (M&A) by value and volume, respectively, in the Middle East & Africa (MEA) market for the first half (H1) of 2024, unveiled GlobalData’s latest legal advisers league table. 

According to the deals database of GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company, Allen & Overy led the ranking by value, with advisory on transactions worth $9.6bn. 

White & Case topped the volume chart by advising on five deals.  

GlobalData lead analyst Aurojyoti Bose said: “White & Case, despite registering a drop in the number of deals advised in H1 2024 compared to H1 2023, managed to top the chart by volume.  

“Meanwhile, Allen & Overy, which led by value, registered a 147% jump in the total value of deals advised during H1 2024 compared to H1 2023. Resultantly, its ranking by value improved from the third position in H1 2023 to the top spot in H1 2024.” 

In terms of value, Bernitsas Law, Latham & Watkins, and Simmons & Simmons were all ranked second in the list by each advising on deals amounting to $3.4bn.

Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati followed with $700m in advised deal value. 

By the volume of deals, Naschitz Brandes Amir came in second with four deals.  

It was followed by Allen & Overy, King & Spalding, and Webber Wentzel, each advising on three deals.
