Hilton has entered a long-term management agreement with a joint venture entity of Commerz Real and Hines for the Hilton Munich Park hotel in Germany, which is poised for a redevelopment.

The Hilton-managed property will be transformed within the Tucherpark mixed-use, circular city project, which is being developed by the joint venture company.

As part of this redevelopment, the company aims to integrate retail, residential, office, and hospitality spaces, creating a new community hub in Munich.

Hilton Munich Park, a landmark since the Munich Olympic Games, lies next to the expansive English Gardens, an inner-city park.

The upcoming redevelopment will enhance its connection with the surrounding nature, in line with Tucherpark’s mission of harmonising urban convenience with the environment.

Plans for Hilton Munich Park further include a new rooftop restaurant and bar offering views of the English Gardens, alongside a central bar, dining, and retail areas on the ground floor.

Event facilities will be upgraded with a larger ballroom and a unique city garden venue, responding to the increased demand for event spaces. The hotel will also feature improved wellness amenities.

Commerz Real hospitality and shopping global head Dirk Schuldes said: “The signing of this lease agreement with Hilton is a significant milestone for us. Hilton’s exceptional reputation and strong brand presence will be instrumental in the future success of the Tucherpark community.

“Committed to actively engaging Hilton in the design and redevelopment plans for the revitalised Hilton Munich Park hotel, we eagerly anticipate the groundbreaking developments that our shared vision will bring.”

The hotel is set to close on 31 December 2024, with the redevelopment expected to complete in 2029.

Hilton will continue to serve guests at its other Munich locations, including Hilton Munich Airport, Hilton Munich City, and various Hampton by Hilton and Hilton Garden Inn properties.

Hilton Continental Europe senior vice president David Kelly said: “More than five decades since its opening, we’re thrilled to confirm these exciting plans for Hilton Munich Park’s future.

“The hotel’s new innovative design and state-of-the-art facilities are set to solidify its status as an iconic destination and ensure it continues to attract business and leisure travellers from around the world, as well as residents.

“Working in collaboration with Commerz Real and Hines, we are poised to set new benchmarks in hospitality with this reimagined property.”
