After three years of extensive renovations, the historic Hotel Fortney in Viroqua, US, has announced its opening on 27 April, the La Crosse Tribune has reported.
As part of the renovation, the hotel will feature 14 new boutique guest rooms which will replace the existing 41 smaller rooms on the property’s second and third floors.
The property was purchased by the Wrobel family in January 2020 and started its renovation in April of the same year.
The renovation project will feature a guest lounge on the third floor and an outdoor gear room on the second floor, equipped with a fly-tying station and a station for working on bicycles.
First built in 1899, the three-story hotel features a wooden grand staircase leading to guest rooms on the second and third floors.
The restoration project will refurbish the grand staircase and replace the building’s many windows.
According to the report, the renovation project will be completed once an elevator is installed near the staircase. Hotel Fortney owner Brian Wrobel was quoted saying: “Hopefully by July 1 that’s up and running”.
The Wrobels opened The Historic Fortney Lounge on the first floor of the building in June 2021, soon to be renamed as The Hotel Fortney Lounge.
