Two hotels in Portland, Oregon, US, are taking steps to enhance security on their premises by deploying Knightscope Autonomous Security Robots (ASRs) in their parking areas.
The decision comes in the wake of the successful implementation of ASRs in another Portland hotel.
Ensuring security in the hospitality industry is not limited to the safety of a hotel’s building and grounds; it also extends to the well-being of guests, employees, visitors and day users.
Adopting a unified security strategy was of paramount significance to the hotels. Their approach combines organisational, technical and physical measures to effectively prevent and promptly respond to potential threats.
Knightscope ASRs patrolling the perimeters of the hotels play a vital role in identifying and reporting potential security risks, allowing for a quick and effective response when assistance is needed.
Safety in education
A Florida college is also taking proactive measures to improve safety on its campus by expanding its emergency communication programme. The institution had previously purchased 22 Knightscope devices, and it is now investing in retrofitting its existing security infrastructure with Knightscope’s K1 Retrofit Kits and faceplates.

By GlobalDataThe goal of this initiative is to create a safer environment for students, faculty members and staff.
Rather than solely focusing on fortifying physical access points, it is essential to adopt a holistic approach that prioritises safety, health, and support throughout the entire educational institution.
Knightscope’s blue light phones and towers will be deployed to provide reliable and accessible communication channels across the campus, ensuring quick access to emergency assistance when needed.
Expanding the Knightscope presence
In addition to the contracts with the two Portland hotels and the Florida college’s expansion plans, Knightscope has also secured an expansion sale.
An existing user of Knightscope’s K1B line of emergency communication systems is increasing its usage, underlining the continued expansion of the company’s presence in the security and safety industry.
These developments reflect the growing recognition of the importance of advanced security solutions in sectors such as hospitality and education, as organisations and institutions seek to provide safer environments for their stakeholders.
Knightscope’s autonomous security robots and emergency communication systems are playing a significant role in this endeavour, offering a comprehensive approach to security and safety.
